Updates

Hello Scholars,

This week we've been working on revision strategies in class as we complete our final drafts of our scrapbook pages.

Students in first period have been working on a writing project.

On Friday we will have another SOAPSTone assessment in all classes.

Thanks,
Ms. Wilmer

The wait is over!

Hello scholars,

I deeply apologize for not posting over the past few days. It's been a crazy week in terms of homework. We've worked on reading diagnostics, projects, writing.

There is no homework over the weekend, unless you forgot to do the "Characterize Yourself" worksheet. My GT students do not have homework, either, unless they forgot to write their compare and contrast paragraph.

This week we will be putting our binders to use as we put together our writing portfolios. Both classes will take a look at the writing process and begin to look at the process of characterization.

Thanks,
Ms. Wilmer

Quiz Friday and Homework, due Sept. 15

Hello Scholars,

Everyone class did an excellent job with tone today in class. I was really impressed with how quickly everyone caught on. Also, the worksheet last night had the incorrect answers on the back. For some reason, the worksheet switched the numbers around. Below are the correct definitions.

Homework for both standard language arts and GT is the SOAPSTone assignment I sent home.

VOCABULARY
Diminutive – Small for your age

Brawny – Muscular

Delinquent – Someone that acts in a criminal or irresponsible way.

Vacant – Empty

Mockery – when someone makes a joke out of something, typically something serious.

Timid – Shy

Intimidated – when someone makes you feel shy or nervous.

Homework, Due Sept. 13

Hello Scholars,

It's great to see everyone energized after the weekend.

Homework for GT is to read chapters 4 and 5 in The Bully. There is a strong chance you'll see a pop quiz tomorrow morning that could count as a classwork grade. Also, look forward to your reward for filling up the marble jar.

Homework for standard language arts is to complete the pink worksheet attached to your classwork, the "PB Administration." Anyone who can tell me why this is an allegory gets five extra credit points!

Over the weekend

Hello scholars,

I am so excited that we've starting digging in on The Bully. I know we will really enjoy exploring the themes of the work and applying them to our classroom.

Students in standard language arts do no have homework over the weekend, except to get a binder if they have not done so already. Students in GT should read chapters one through three. If you read ahead, DON'T BE A SPOILER!

Have a lovely weekend.

Sincerely,
Ms. Wilmer

Homework, Due Sept. 8

Hello scholars,

I've really enjoyed discussing the importance of literacy with you this week. Just like athletes train, we'll work hard to grow as readers over the course of the year.

Students in GT do not have Homework for tonight, but should make sure they get their student handbooks signed.

Students in periods 3,4, and 5 need to complete the pink "Time Troubles" worksheet that was attached to our classwork.

Students in period 7 need to complete the "Read Like a Champ" writing worksheet. These items are due at the beginning of the class period tomorrow.

Everyone should bring in their binders if they have not already done so.

Enjoy your night!

Ms. Wilmer

Homework

Hello scholars,

I really enjoyed sharing with you all the importance of literacy today. I'm excited to work with you to help you grow are readers and learners over the year.

For mods 1-5 (all classes except for the last period of the day), your homework is to write a paragraph, using the the pink "Read Like a Champ" worksheet. It takes you through the writing process. Make sure you complete all of the parts for full credit. Last period should focus on getting a 1-2 inch binder.

PLEASE BRING IN A BINDER to leave in the classroom as soon as possible. Any student unable to get a binder should discuss this with me. Target has binder for 94 cents, and the dollar store has them for a dollar.

Thank you so much,
Ms. Wilmer

Reminder to bring binders

Hello scholars,

I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. I just want to remind everyone that you need to bring in a three ring binder by Tuesday, Sept. 6. That is your only homework.

I also want to give a shout out to all of my classes for doing an excellent job on their reading diagnostics! Congrats to fifth period, that did their diagnostic without power.
