Over the weekend and coming up

Hello scholars,

You do not have any homework over the weekend. But please look around for examples of indirect characterization in your life.

As a reminder, direct is telling and indirect is showing who a character is.

This week we will look at forms of indirect characterization and jumping back into vocabulary. Expect a fairly substantial quiz on Friday.

Enjoy your weekend.

Updates

Hello Scholars,

This week we've been working on revision strategies in class as we complete our final drafts of our scrapbook pages.

Students in first period have been working on a writing project.

On Friday we will have another SOAPSTone assessment in all classes.

Thanks,
Ms. Wilmer

The wait is over!

Hello scholars,

I deeply apologize for not posting over the past few days. It's been a crazy week in terms of homework. We've worked on reading diagnostics, projects, writing.

There is no homework over the weekend, unless you forgot to do the "Characterize Yourself" worksheet. My GT students do not have homework, either, unless they forgot to write their compare and contrast paragraph.

This week we will be putting our binders to use as we put together our writing portfolios. Both classes will take a look at the writing process and begin to look at the process of characterization.

Thanks,
Ms. Wilmer

Quiz Friday and Homework, due Sept. 15

Hello Scholars,

Everyone class did an excellent job with tone today in class. I was really impressed with how quickly everyone caught on. Also, the worksheet last night had the incorrect answers on the back. For some reason, the worksheet switched the numbers around. Below are the correct definitions.

Homework for both standard language arts and GT is the SOAPSTone assignment I sent home.

VOCABULARY
Diminutive – Small for your age

Brawny – Muscular

Delinquent – Someone that acts in a criminal or irresponsible way.

Vacant – Empty

Mockery – when someone makes a joke out of something, typically something serious.

Timid – Shy

Intimidated – when someone makes you feel shy or nervous.

Homework, Due Sept. 13

Hello Scholars,

It's great to see everyone energized after the weekend.

Homework for GT is to read chapters 4 and 5 in The Bully. There is a strong chance you'll see a pop quiz tomorrow morning that could count as a classwork grade. Also, look forward to your reward for filling up the marble jar.

Homework for standard language arts is to complete the pink worksheet attached to your classwork, the "PB Administration." Anyone who can tell me why this is an allegory gets five extra credit points!
